Hi everyone, I have been waiting since April for my refund on my self assessment every time I contact HMRC I can’t seem to get a response it’s been 8 months and could use the money this time of year Just curious what’s the longest anyone on here have had to wait? Thanks Joel.

Hi everyone I’m after some advice? I completed my tax return on the 10/04/2024 and haven’t received anything from HMRC at all no letters etc, on the time I have contacted them they have give me dates to ring back to which I have and they said I shouldn’t be ringing in even though the colleagues told me todo so. I also had to members of HMRC staff telling me I’m getting the repayment on certain date and when I didn’t receive it I contacted them a week later to be told I had been given wrong information and my money hasn’t been released I am literally going around in circles it has been over 8 months and still no date on when I’m getting my tax return as I can’t get a straight answer when I contact HMRC I have never experienced anything like this before. One of the members of staff I spoke to on the phone told me to not ring in and the reason I’m not getting my money is because I’m ringing in to ask for a update I really don’t understand how than can be said to me absolutely blew my head off when I got told that. I’m a single father really struggling financially and to be promised the money by actually HMRC staff and then got told I wasn’t and still haven’t been given a date for the money is crazy I’m mentally struggling now with Christmas around the corner with my little ones presents and also no pay with being off work for the Christmas period.
