  • YouTube Income

I am employed full-time and receive a basic salary. Last tax year, I earned less than £100 from my YouTube content. Do I need to file a self-assessment tax return?
  • Foreign income less than £100

I'm a UK tax resident and domiciled in the UK. In the last tax year, my earnings were from wages in the UK, and I was not self-employed. My income tax band is the Basic rate. Recently, I applied for a 'certificate of residence' to receive £64.36 from Google AdSense in Ireland. During the process of obtaining the certificate, I received a letter advising me to register for Self Assessment. This amount accumulated over the course of a year, with my earnings averaging £3-5 per month. Notably, Google Ireland did not levy any tax on this sum due to its small size. This income arises from my hobby and serves as a source of enjoyment, rather than constituting a substantial income, as I maintain a primary job. Considering these circumstances, I wonder if it is still necessary for me to register for Self Assessment?
