Paid in Advance Tax - how to get it decrease or refund?
Thank you in advance for reading my case. I completed and paid the actual tax of 2022/23 and also Paid in advance Tax of 2023/24 Recently, I'm filing my 2023/24 SA return in online, and got the preliminary calculation results. I also required to pay in advance of 2024/2025. Based on my below example, how could I get back the paid tax of £3,000 of 2023/24? My example as shown as below:- 2022/2023 - Tax Result :- Actual Tax 2022/2023 £3,000 Pay in Advance 2023/2024 £3,000 Total Tax Bill................................... £6,000 Tax paid on 31 Jan 2024 £4,500 Tax paid on 31 July 2024 £1,500 Total paid to HRMC ........................ £6,000 2023/2024 - The draft of Tax Result in online (Not yet summit) :- Tax need to pay 2023/2024 £4,000 Pay in Advance 2024/2025 £4,000 Total Tax Bill..................................... £8,000 Tax paid on 31 Jan 2025 £6,000 Tax paid on 31 July 2025 £2,000 Total payment................................. £8,000 Here are my questions:- 1) Can I submit the £3,000 refund when I submit the SA form via online? 2) Can I choose to directly deduct £3,000 in coming Tax bill? 3) Or I need to submit the 2023/24 SA first, wait for the official Tax Bill to come out. Once all payment complete and then can applying for a refund? 4) Or are there other ways to deal with it? Hope to receive your response the soonest. Thanks and regards, -
2021-2022 Self Assessment Tax - No income
Hello, I have a question about the 2021/2022 tax year. I suspect that I have omitted information to HMRC. Please help me find out. I used BNO Visa to arrive in the UK on 18 April 2021. In the first tax year of 2021/2022 (April 18, 2021 - April 5, 2022), I personally did not have any income. A friend reminded me that I still have to file a Self Assessment tax return even though I have no income. Should I file a tax return? If necessary, how should I remedy it? Thank you!
