Do I need to pay tax on a gift of cash I receive?
A group of around 100 people have raised money for a teacher who taught their children over the last 32 years and has had a critical illness. She has no money, no insurance, and will be on statutory pay in a week. We have raised £25,000 so far. Will she need to pay tax on these funds when they are transferred to her? Note that this has nothing to do with inheritance etc.
