  • RE: How to manage someone's tax account online as Power of Attorney

I have registered my mother who has dementia for self-assessments and I have set up myself as power of attorney with HMRC who have sent me her UTR number. I have created a log-in using the UTR number. When I log in it asks for security information for my mother like driving license, passport, credit information, none of which she has or has had for years as she is in a nursing home. I entered my details as I am the power of attorney and have said security details. It now says I should be logged into my own account. I can't submit a self-assessment for my mother on my log in. So dear HMRC, how do you do it? There is nothing online to assist with this case. I can't believe I am the only one with this issue!
