  • RE: US pension and UK Tax

Hi Admin20, I appreciate your reply but I had already read HMRC's definition of Lump Sum and I was seeking further clarification for my situation ie. ad hoc withdrawals each year, where I initiate each withdrawal with respect to date and amount, not regular pre-arranged payments. I think these are multiple lump sums but I don't know if that is correct. Please see my previous post also. Thank you.
  • RE: US pension and UK Tax

Hi, I am a US citizen residing in UK. I would like to know if my US pension withdrawals are lump sums or periodic. I have read HMRC's lump sum definition in previous posts and from that I believe my withdrawals are lump sums, but I want to be sure. My withdrawals were as follows: 20May21: $21,389 (IRA) 26May21: $26,760 (401k) 19Apr22: $23,478 (IRA) 21Apr22: $28,216 (401k) 20Apr23: $18,562 (IRA) 14Apr23: $23,186 (401k). None of these withdrawals were part of an automatic regular payment arrangement. Each withdrawal was separately requested by me in terms of date and amount. It is true that I have made withdrawals annually but on an ad hoc not regular basis. Therefore I believe these are multiple lump sums, not periodic payments, is that correct? Thank you.
