Both employed and self-employed - pension tax relief
Hello, I am both employed and self-employed and my total taxable income will take me into the higher tax bracket this year. I am making pension payments through my PAYE income as net salary but this is only attracting tax relief at the basic rate of 20% because my salary from that employer is under the higher tax bracket threshold. As my total taxable income is in the higher rate tax bracket, can I claim pension tax relief at the higher rate on the pension payments I make through my PAYE income? And if so, is this done through my self-assessment or is there another way to do it?
