My main income is from a local government pension from which tax is deducted at source. I also have a small income from self employment. When completing my self-assessment I was surprised to see that the 'balancing payment' for 22/23 in the 'View your calculation' page included the total tax due from all income sources. This includes tax that I have already paid on my local government pension. Can I assume that, after I submit my return adjustments will be made to the balancing payment for 22/23 and also the 1st 'payment on account' for 23/24 so that I'm not paying twice for tax already paid on my local government pension? This will be my first self assessment return so I'm just seeking reassurance. Thanks
