RE: Non-Residents with Marriage Allowance & bank interest income
Still waiting for a response to my most recent post, in which I reference the Marriage Allowance section of the HMRC Self Assessment Tax Return notes (SA150). This document refers to the “plus up to £6,000 in savings interest”, this detail is absent from the data in the Marriage Allowance link referenced by HMRC Admin 25. Thank you -
RE: Non-Residents with Marriage Allowance & bank interest income
Thank for the reply, We are aware of the Marriage Allowance link you provided, however SA150 Tax Return Notes Page TRG 13 contains the following: Marriage Allowance If your earnings from 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024 were less than £12,570 (plus up to £6,000 in savings interest), you could benefit as a couple if you transfer £1,260 of your personal allowance. Given the above we are confused by, ‘If she now needs this, then there is no financial benefit to the transfer:’ What am I not understanding? -
Non-Residents with Marriage Allowance & bank interest income
We are non-residents wanting to continue claiming marriage allowance, my wife makes the transfer. Her income now exceeds the Personal Allowance (£12,427) due to bank interest income which is less than £1000. Can we continue with the marriage allowance transfer?
