I used the MHRC online tool, which told me that I do not need to make a self-assessment, but I am a bit paranoid, so I just want to double-check. I have a salaried job ~45k/year that goes through pay-roll, all tax gets automatically deduced etc. and is generally my only source of income. Nevertheless, I gave a talk at a conference and the organiser insisted to give me a £150 'speaker fee', which was my only additional income in the last tax year aside of my salary. Am I correct in understanding that since it was £150, this falls within the 1k trading allowance and as such I do not not need to make a self-assessment?
