Hi. Thanks for the response but that completely avoids the question. I've been through all this before. I can't deposit a cheque and need it to not be issued. My wife had just had her refund paid by direct debit so I know it's possible. Why does HMRC insist on using outdated methods? I need the deposit made to my bank before the cheque is issued. Please just tell me how to change the way the refund is paid.

I've just completed my SA for income earned before leaving UK and am due a refund. As I'm no longer living in the UK the refund absolutely must not be paid by cheque. How do I ensure that it's paid into my UK bank account before the cheque is issued?
