IHT due on a gift that was returned?
If a gift is made but then that money is returned (ie -- a loan), is the original gift still subject to IHT in the normal way (ie, if the giver dies with 7 years and has a total estate value meaning IHT is due)? Does it matter how long the money was loaned for? -
Could claiming Tax Free Childcare impact co-parent's benefits?
Hi, I claim no benefits. I have shared custody of my daughter. I'm considering creating a Tax-Free Childcare account to save 20% on my childcare costs. Please can you confirm that this would definitely not affect any child benefit, universal credit, working tax credits, child tax credit, or any other benefit claimed by my daughter's mum? The page at https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare mentions impact on partners you live with but nothing about ex partners except that only one of us can have an account (I think that part will be OK). Thanks, Paul
