  • Property repairs and maintenance cost is higher than income from property?

Hi, I have let my property via an agency and the tenancy started March 2024. Before that, in order to get the property registered and licensed with the council, I have to fix the roof/ceiling, etc. with the cost run in total of more than 12k. However, as the property was let in Mar 2024 so the total rental income for tax year 2023/2024 is only 2k. I tried enter those figures in my tax return and the form does not like it and displayed: WARNING: This figure is high in relation to 'Total rents and other income from property'. Property repairs and maintenance: (optional) WARNING: Please check and amend the entry below. What should I do in this case? Should I put all the property repairs and maintenance done in Tax year 04/2023-03/2024 in to the next tax year return instead? If so, do I need to declare property income for 2023/2024 as it is less than threshold of 2500? Thank you
