Hi, I started working as a freelance journalist last year and I never earned more than £1000 in a tax year. Last night, I did the Self Assessment check on the Government website and it said I should register for it, which contradicted information I had previously heard and read about not needing to do it unless I earned £1000 or more in a tax year. I did register, but I'm still not sure whether this is something I needed to do. If I didn't, is there a way to cancel this? How would that work? I'm very new to this, but I'm trying to learn! I'll appreciate any advice. Thank you.
