RE: VAT relief on house restoration
Hi, there is a good chance a family member could reside in the property once finished. It will depend how long the project takes and to what extent the renovation is done. The builders are labouring to help me, I’m paying them for their labour, but I’m buying all the materials. Could I still not claim for the materials? Thank you for your reply -
RE: VAT relief on house restoration
Hello, questions regarding VAT exemption. I have recently bought a property that has been vacant for 12 years. (Confirmed by the housing officer at the council). It requires full renovation before potentially renting it out. On reading the criteria it says it must be used by myself or family once this is complete. Is this correct? If I rent to somebody not family would I be able to claim? I have a number of contractors working on the property, (not vat registered) they are supplying materials and with that the invoices they are getting from the suppliers have their names/company names on. How would I claim for these? Windows for example the supplier is trade only, so I wouldn’t be able to purchase from them directly. I have an invoice from them but it has my contractors name on.
