  • PPR Calculation

Hi, could someone help me out on a calculation. Say I have a gain of £57,000 on a property sale. My period of ownership is below to help. Purchase date to me moving out due to separation. Then eventual house sale - August 2024. August 2007 to May 2023 is 190 months. June 2023 to August 2024 is a further 15 months so total ownership 205 months. The 190 months of actual occupation is exempt and then a further 9 months “given” and so 6/205ths is the taxable gain. What is the PPR relief amount? Thanks
  • CGT and Divorce

Hi, the calculator on the HMRC site reference the PPR. Seems to put out varying info as £0 and £29,000+ This is slightly worrying. My wife and I are separated unlikely to reconcile. I moved out the family home in May 2023, and still retain an interest in the marital home. I would still like to claim this as my main home for PPR purposes. The house will complete and sell shortly. With both parties making a substantial gain. It was my main residence from August 2007 to May 2023. Plus the extending 9 months period. My tax advisor is telling me I should only be realistically be paying £0 - 52 minimal amount of CGT. Not £29,000+ It seems odd that I get varying info out of the calculator. In my case 6/205ths is the taxable gain. Thanks
