  • RE: Landlord Income Query

Thank you for all the help so far. I'm a private landlord not a holiday let landlord so is it right that my rental income is not allowed?
  • RE: Landlord Income Query

I got this email from a tax expert who said the opposite, so I'm still confused. "Rental income is generally not considered "relevant earnings" for pension contributions, meaning you can't receive tax relief on SIPP contributions from rental income alone. Relevant earnings typically include: - Employment income (salary, wages) - Self-employed income (profits from trade or profession) - Some forms of partnership income Given this, you can still contribute to a SIPP, but you won't receive tax relief on contributions made from rental income unless you have other forms of relevant earnings." Is there anyone I can call about this?
  • Landlord Income Query

Hi I am seeking clarification on whether my rental income qualifies as relevant earnings for tax relief on SIPP contributions. My ONLY form of income is from being a landlord, and I manage three rental properties. Additionally, I am actively purchasing new properties to rent out. I want to ensure I pay the correct tax and National Insurance contributions. What should my next steps be, and whom should I contact at HMRC for further assistance? Thank you for your assistance.
