  • Payment on account - child benefit

Hi I've had to complete a self assessment over the past two tax years due to earning over £50000 a year and needing to pay some of my child benefit back along with some tax on savings interest. This year, (23-24) I've had to pay almost all child benefit back as I'm nearly at £60000 a year salary. Along with my tax bill for that year I've also been told to pay a total of about £3000 in two installments as a payment on account to cover the 24-25 tax year. My issue with this is the threshold for losing child benefit is now £60000 - £80000 meaning next year won't have to pay alot back and won't be anywhere near £3000 so how can I stop having to pay this extra as it will then have to be paid back to me after my next assessment? Thanks
