RE: Partial Pension Encashment income and Income Tax Refunded or Set-Off section on Tax return
Many thanks - I finally found an HMRC guide that explained the process. Confusion reigns in the UK with many different bodies using different terminology to describe the same things - even the HMRC uses two different ways to describe a PPE! -
Partial Pension Encashment income and Income Tax Refunded or Set-Off section on Tax return
Two questions regarding Self Assessment Tax return for 2023/24 1. I took a Partial Pension Encashment (PPE) from my personal pension, which I paid tax on and is recorded on my HMRC on-line account for that tax year. Where do I enter the income received and tax paid for this type of income on the tax return? 2. I was taxed too highly for the above PPE by my pension provider for which I claimed a refund on form P55, 'Flexibly accessed pension payment: repayment claim' from HMRC in July 2023. This over-payment was agreed by HMRC and I received a refund in July 2023. Do I enter this in the Tax Refunded or Set-Off section on my tax return?
