  • Redundancy pay owed

I have recently been made redundant and have been taxed on the additional sum my company gave me in addition to statutory pay. In my pay slip it was called ‘ transitional pay’ I think the pay slip was laid out incorrectly. The amount was £12,000 ( this was not notice pay or holiday or commission it was an additional amount) in addition to the £4,200 stat. I called Hmrc who said I was only entitled to £412 refund and I should speak to my company. My ex company say speak to Hmrc as they outsource the pay. Is there any advice you can share about tax codes of how it should be laid out so I can go back to my ex company please? Thank you
