In August 2022 I went back into full time employment from being Self-Employed I filled out the online declaration stating I was closing my business and would be back to PAYE employment. I filed my 22/23 tax return and have since had another tax return requested. Do I have to keep filing tax returns or will this stop eventually when the system catches up??

Unfortunately I have after 8 attempts to speak to someone now given up the voice rec system is hopeless you end up on hold for hours and then get booted from the system. This is not the first time either the system seriously needs an overhaul as it is flawed on so many levels

I had a message from HMRC this morning to tell me despite me being employed and on PAYE that I owed tax. Whilst on my personal tax page I noticed a figure under Non-coded income. I don’t have any other income but this figure is not an insignificant amount and I am perplexed as to where HMRC have got this figure from.
