  • Moving back abroad

I’m currently living and working in the UK on a Skilled Work visa from South Africa. I’ve been employed by a company in London for whom I’m a software developer working remotely from my home in Bournemouth for just over 2 years. I’d like to move back to South Africa due to family. Can I remain an employee of this UK company and remote work from South Africa? In other words remain on payroll as a regular employee? I’d need to pay taxes in South Africa instead as I’ll be a tax resident there so I would need to inform HMRC and apply for a “No Tax” code? Is this correct or would I need to become a contractor instead and would I continue paying NI contributions? I read somewhere about 52 weeks. The information available is limited and conflicting.
