RE: HMRC IT issue trying to de-register from VAT
Hello, This is the number we have rung over 20 times now and there's nothing they can do as they don't recognise the VAT number and so they are unable to see any history or records and they're not able to put us through to anyone. A few times they have hung up on us as well. Is there not any other number we could have or an IT department we could contact? Many thanks, -
HMRC IT issue trying to de-register from VAT
Starting May 24, we tried to de-register a client from VAT online. We were notified that this request to de-register failed. We called to try and find out the reason, but whenever we ring, they can't find the client and say that they can't recognise the VAT number. When we log on to our Agent services and find the client, it's active as normal and the client also appears under the "Check VAT number" tool. We have since made countless calls and all they say is that they will request a call back - we have not once received a call back. We submitted a paper de-registration return and filed a complaint however we have still had no contact and made countless more requests to de-register online which have all failed. We're guessing it's an IT glitch on the system somewhere. If someone could suggest another avenue to try and get this resolved it would be greatly appreciated.
