  • Pension lump sum recycling question

I am about to take early retirement at 63 and will start taking my deferred civil service pension. This means I will receive a tax free lump sum of around £35,000 and also 3 years deferred pension which after tax will be around £28,000. My other income for this year will be £14000 from the civil service pension plus £7000 wages prior to retirement. I was intending to put £20,000 of the tax free lump sum into an ISA and would like to put some of the taxed £28000 into my personal SIPP so I can claim some tax relief. I don't intend to start withdrawing from my SIPP for several more years. My question is how much can I put into my SIPP this year without breaking any HMRC pension recycling rules?
