  • Claim back voluntary NI contributions made prior to deadline extension?

My wife paid voluntary NI contributions for a year that was not full as the original deadline was approaching and she was not sure when she was going to retire and wanted to ensure that she had paid enough NI years in full to get her full State Pension. However, had she known that the deadline was going to be extended she would not have paid the voluntary NI contribution and would have waited until nearer the new 5 April 2025 deadline to decide if she needed to pay the year in full. As she now knows that she will have enough NI qualifying years without needing to have paid the voluntary NI contributions, can she claim back the voluntary NI contribution that she made in order not to miss the initial deadline that was then extended?
