  • Unable to file VAT online after VAT registration reallocation

    We have a had a VAT registration reallocated to us. The agent who had submitted returns for this VAT profile has de-linked it from his profile. All attempts over several weeks to link this VAT number to our online tax profile have failed. Whenever we manage to get through to HMRC via telephone we are directed to the website which does not address our specific problem. In addition we are receiving automated VAT bills from HMRC which are grossly incorrect given that our business is an exporter - any rudimentary review of the history of this VAT registration would confirm this. So we are in a catch 22 in that we cannot file VAT returns and HMRC seems to illogically believe that we owe them VAT payments. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
