  • RE: CGT on chattel sold for less than £6000

Hi thanks, I looked at the guidance but still have a couple more questions: 1. Does the Chattel £6000 CGT exemption apply per sale or per financial year? 2. Are the following considered chattel: (a)Silver Dinner set and (b) Gold bar (small 1oz). These did not fit with any examples given in the guidance.
  • CGT on chattel sold for less than £6000

Hi. I am selling possessions that were gifted to me by my grandparents 20 years ago. All together they are worth approximately £30,000. I have been told by the jewellers/pawn brokers that it’s chattel and there is no CGT for those items sold for less than £6000. Is that correct? If so, does that apply as £6000 per sale or per financial year? Does the chattels CGT £6000 exemption apply to the following: Jewellery Gold bars Old Watches Antique China sets Silver Dinner sets Cheers
