RE: How to Report Repaid Underpayment from P800 on Self-Assessment for 2022-2023?
Hi, I called the Self-Assessment line and they told me that they are separate from PAYE and that I would need to contact PAYE for a Tax Refund to claim back for the underpayment that I repaid. Does this sound correct? -
How to Report Repaid Underpayment from P800 on Self-Assessment for 2022-2023?
I need to submit a historical Self-Assessment form for the tax year 2022-2023 to declare additional self-employment income. During this year, I was only registered under PAYE for my regular employment, not Self-Assessment. For 2022-2023, I received a P800 tax calculation, which showed an underpayment. I have already repaid this amount upfront. Now, I'm trying to figure out where I should report this repaid underpayment in my Self-Assessment form so that it is included correctly in the tax calculation for the year. I have already completed the Tax Return for my PAYE income using the figures from the P800 calculation and have also included the additional self-employment income. However, the Tax Calculation doesn't seem to account for the underpayment that I’ve already repaid. How do I properly report this repayment to ensure it is factored into the final tax calculation? Thanks for any help! -
Claiming Allowable Expenses for Pre-Tenancy Property Improvements: What's the Rule?
I’m seeking clarification on the timing of allowable expenses for rental income. I started renting out my property for the first time in June, but made some improvements to the property in the months prior while I was still living there to make it suitable for renting. Can I claim these improvement costs as allowable expenses, or can I only claim expenses incurred after the tenancy began? -
Including P800 Underpayment Repayment in Self-Assessment: How to Reflect Correctly?
1. I've been asked to prepare a Self-Assessment tax return for a previous year. During that year, I received a P800 tax calculation showing that I had underpaid tax, which I subsequently repaid. How should I include the extra tax repaid in my Self-Assessment form? 2. If the repaid underpayment from the P800 does not automatically show up in the tax calculation within my Self-Assessment, what should I do? Is there a specific section in the Self-Assessment form where I need to include this repayment? -
Including previous payments for PAYE tax underpayments on a Self-Assessment
I need to generate a Self-Assessment for self employment income earned in Tax year 2022-23. At the time I was not registered with self-assessment. I received a P800 tax calculation which showed I had underpaid tax, and I made a repayment to calculate this. How do I include this additional payment on a Self-Assessment? Currently this is not included in the final tax calculation, which means I could end up making this repayment a second time.
