  • RE: How to Pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions from Abroad

Hi, I received my Voluntary NICs shortfall table for the period 2006/07 to 2023/24. However the period 2006/07 to 2022/23 is at the class 3 amount of £15.85 per week; and 2023/24 is for 32 weeks at class 2 of £3.45 per week and 20 weeks at class 3 of £17.45 per week. The HMRC cover letter with the Voluntary NICs shortfall table says my application to pay voluntary class 2 NICs by annual payment has been accepted. My questions are: 1) Why is all the shortfall not at class 2? 2) Why has 2023/24 been split between class 2 (32 weeks) and class 3 (20 weeks)? 3) Since my application, I have been awarded credited prsi contributions (home maker/ homecarer) in Ireland for the period December 2007 to September 2023. Should this be taken account of in the Voluntary NICs shortfall table? i.e. the period December 2007 to September 2023 should be at the class 2 rate of £3.45 per week? How do I rectify this? Thank you.
  • Purchase NI from abroad

Hi, I completed the CF 83 form re purchase of NI contributions from abroad - I live in Ireland now. I posted the CF83 back in April 2023 and it was delivered by registered post in May 2023. However I haven't received anything back to date. How can I follow up on this? Can I check the status of my application online/ is there a phone number I can ring from Ireland? Thank you.
