2 year nomination period for married couples
Hi, My husband and I both own properties separately. He kept his after we were married 3 years ago and his grown up children have lived there. They have now left and we plan to sell his property. As we have been married over 2 years it will be liable to capital gains tax as not our main property. Does the 2 year nomination period form part of residential relief? He has owned the house for 7 years and he lived in it for 4 years. If the 2 year nomination period also counts, we would need to pay CGT for just 1 year?
