  • Storage containers and allowances

Does anyone know on storage containers (i.e. the old shipping containers which go on back of a lorry) if a business is using these to rent out purely for storage what the position is/guidance on allowances for them. We have always be noted that the guidance is that because they are static and not easily moveable that capital allowances were not claimable and they are more property for future capital gains down the line. Rental income off them along with associated costs treated as part of the trade. Has anything moved on from this?
  • RE: Collection of self assessment tax through PAYE tax code

Hi thank you for your reply, so if collected through my tax code then does it basically mean I don’t have to pay any payments on account towards the next year even though they are showing as triggered due to being above relevant amount? I tried speaking to hmrc by phone and the gentleman I spoke with told me i could have the balance collected through my tax code but that I would still need to pay the payments on account as normal as they are mandatory. Bit confusing.

Is anyone from HMRC admin able to help on my query?
  • Collection of self assessment tax through PAYE tax code

If I am able to submit a self assessment return before the end of December I can opt to have any tax collected via my PAYE tax code (subject to criteria), however, on this years calculation it has triggered payments on account due what happens with these when the tax is being collected via the tax code rather than a lump sum being paid at the normal times? Also if still able to do via tax code and if the payments on account are then not applicable do I have to adjust these in some way on my tax return? Any help would be most appreciated.
