  • RE: State Pension Query.

Thank you for your reply about the 18 digit reference number. As I shall be paying voluntary contributions using my UK bank account, will this number be different from the "formula" advised? The reason I asked is that my husband, who is in the same situation as me i.e. worked in the UK for a number of years and then we worked abroad together for decades (he initiated action before me and has not reached retirement age yet) was given an 18 digit reference number that does not involve his surname and initial, only numerics. He successfully made contributions twice. Just want to make sure that funds will be remitted and then allocated to me correctly, as long as my NIC number + IC + surname + initial making up 18 digits. Many thanks!
  • RE: State Pension Query.

Hello, I live and work outside England after working in England for a number of years, reached pension age August 2024. I obtained state pension forecast, having initiated the process to enquire over one year before my reaching pension age. I have problems trying to get a 18-digit reference number from HMRC to make voluntary NI contributions, having sent in CF83 to HMRC one year ago, got referred to International Pension Centre (was told that I was within 6 months of reaching pension age) who then said that they made a request for me for HMRC to send me the information needed. I tried to call HMRC at +44 1912037010 to follow up, to make sure that they are handling my case as I need to make payment before the April 2025 due date, but the line was saying that they can now only deal with general enquires. How can I get to talk to HMRC for my situation please?
