  • Additional Assets Discovered after Probate

Hello, Probate for my uncle’s estate was completed and inheritance tax paid on it about 3 years ago. This was done through a solicitor. I have recently been contacted by an insurance company to say that there is an additional payment that should have been made into his estate. I don’t know how much this might be. I believe that inheritance tax must be paid within 6 months of death. How do I go about declaring this additional asset, how do I pay the inheritance tax and will I be penalised for declaring it late even though I’ve only just been informed about it? Thank you.
