  • RE: Online tutoring VAT

Hi HMRC, I am resident in an EU country and I work as an online self-employed tutor. I will provide tuition services to the students of a UK education provider on law subjects. The tuition services are provided online out of my home country and I will invoice for this the education provider. I understand that this falls outside the scope of UK VAT and, even if it were subject to UK VAT, it would be exempt. Could you please advise? Many thanks in advance.
  • RE: Non-resident self-employed doing some work in the UK

Hi HMRC, I am a self-employed tutor living in an EU country (no UK residence). I provide online tuition services (fully remotely-with no travel to UK) to a UK education provider for which I invoice them on a monthly basis. I understand that this is income generated outside the UK and that I will be taxed for this in my home country. Therefore I understand that I am not obliged to file a self-assessment in the UK or be subject to UK income tax for this. Could you please confirm? Many thanks in advance.
