  • Striking off a dormant company

We have a dormant company which we are looking to strike off. It has in the past traded, however it has been dormant for a number of years and has therefore not submitted a tax return (and the accounts) during this period. Before submitting the application to strike off the company, are we required to complete a tax return and submit this along with the accounts for the previous financial year (which ended 31 Dec 2023)? Or as the company is dormant already, can we just notify HMRC of the intention to strike off and then follow the process of submitting the DS01 to Companies House?
