Hello. We owned two rental properties. One became vacant in mid-September 2022. We were undecided so we kept our options open for re-letting or selling the property. Eventually a Sale was agreed in mid-February 2023. The sale was completed in April 2023. There was no rental income from mid-September 2022 but we paid Council Taxes, Insurances, Utilities, decorating costs etc until the sale was completed. On which of these dates do we say the rental business ceased? and can we claim these costs until then? We still let the other property. Thanks for your comments.
