RE: VAT invoices with different address
Hi, I've read the article but there were no mentions about the exact issue raised in my question about potential addresses shown on the invoices being different. There were only mentions about time scale of what can qualify (4 years at most) when trying to backdate an invoice. Does this the time scale is the only required information on the invoice that matters when it comes to deciding whether it can be used or not? As long as the business items was purchased within 4 years and still in use, it's valid to be used for claims in backdating? Can you confirm if this is correct understanding? -
Contact from HMRC
I wanted some confirmation about contact methods HMRC will use when trying to contact me. I believe I chose the email option when selecting preferred contact method, but was told there could still be letters sent out as a form of contact. I am aware that the VAT number letter is one such information which is sent out by post only. I wanted to know if you can give me information on what other contact from the HMRC will also be post only and what type will be email. -
VAT invoices with different address
Some of the invoices for items I have purchased (to start business) where made before VAT registered and thus have various different address associated with them compared to the business address now associated with the VAT number. However, these supplies were purchased solely for business purposes/business intent (the business at the time was in its setup phase and so didn't have any official business address to be billed to). But these supplies have continued to be used for business purposes as intended. Now that I have a VAT return, can I still include these older purchases (they are less than 4 years old) as a part of the VAT reclaim despite the fact that, when is comes to record keeping, their billing address do not match the address currently filed under the VAT number? Or would this be an issue because of the billing address inconstancy? -
Reclaiming VAT back
Hi, I would like to reclaim VAT on good/services which I’ve purchased prior to becoming VAT registered. Some dates back a few months while some goods date back about 2-3 years ago (still in use now-e.g some office supplies) I read that I may need to provide evidence to reclaim these VAT back and was wondering can you please let me know that evidence(s) are acceptable please? -
Help with registeration
Hi, When registering for VAT, there are the home/personal information section and a section for business information both asking for the respective address, contact information etc. Can you please let me know that upon successful registration of VAT which information provided during the registration process would be public information? -
volunteer register vat
Hello, I am currently planning to register VAT voluntarily and read it was possible to backdate the registration to up to 4 years. My question is, if I choose to set the registration date as far back as 2020 would this mean all the VAT returns which would be required to be submitted between this 4-year time is now considered ‘late submission’ the minute I am become registered for VAT and therefore I would face a penalty for the lack of these submissions? Is this something I should be concerned about or does this not qualify as ‘late submission’ since it’s back dating and so no penalty is applied?
