Nationwide PPI tax issue
Hi guys, just a heads up that anyone who instructed Nationwide PPI (nothing to do with the Building Society) to look into any tax rebate due on historical PPI refunds, their contracts make them the beneficiary of all future tax rebates (i.e. excess PAYE paid from work) for ALL YEARS until you actively stop this by filling in the HMRC form to make yourself the sole and direct beneficiary of these refund cheques, I have been in touch with the Low Income Tax Support charity and sent them my contract; which they are using to educate their contact at HMRC as to the deliberately "hidden in a paragraph" nature of this clause, which has left me £500 out of pocket as regards multiple years' PAYE tax rebates due. It's too late now for the 22/23 year but I would urge you all to sort it, like I am, well before the 23/24 year starts in April to avoid Nationwide PPI (perfectly legally) taking your money as "fees and percentage" for monies which they have not had to lift a finger for (PAYE rebates are paid automatically via cheque) Unethical in the extreme but not illegal. Good luck!
