  • Request for Certificate of Residence in the UK when not employed

I am a UK citizen, but lived, worked, and paid tax in Greece from 2002-2009. When I returned to the UK from Greece in 2009, I did not realize that you need to submit proof of non-residence to exit the Greek tax system. In order not to be fined for 14 years not making tax declarations in Greece, I need a Certificate of Residence from HMRC. However, although I am currently employed in the UK, I was not employed for several years after returning to the country. I was unemployed for several months, then studying at university in the UK from 2010-2013. Is it possible to get a Certificate of Residence for this time?
