RE: Application rejected (the address provided does not match our records)
I would like to bring to your attention that the provided link does not offer a means to get in touch with the Self Assessment team. It states that the Self Assessment helpline is temporarily closed, with plans to reopen on September 4, 2023. Additionally, the phone number "0300 200 3310" provided does not seem to effectively address inquiries related to Self Assessment matters. I have encountered an issue where I submitted the SA1 form on two separate occasions, yet the email response I received both times indicates that the provided address does not match your records. I want to emphasize that I have cross-referenced the address I supplied in the SA1 form with the one registered in my Personal Tax Account, and they are indeed identical. At this point, I am uncertain about the most appropriate course of action. Should I seek assistance now or would it be advisable to wait until September 4th for the Self Assessment helpline to become operational once again? Your guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. -
RE: Foreign Income from Hong Kong
Am I correct in understanding that Hong Kong pension is not required to be declared in UK Self Assessment tax return, despite your earlier statement that it should only be declared in Hong Kong? -
Do I need to submit a Tax Return?
I immigrated to the UK from Hong Kong in November 2022 through the BNO Visa scheme. As I understand, I am now considered a UK tax resident. My only sources of income are: 1) A pension from the Hong Kong government. According to Article 17 of the UK/Hong Kong double taxation agreement indicated that this income is not taxable in the UK. 2) Interest, dividends, and capital gains from savings and investments. This income is below the UK's tax-free Personal Allowance threshold of £12,570. Given my circumstances, do I need to complete a self-assessment tax return in the UK? Thank you. -
Do I need Self Assessment Tax Returns?
Good morning, I immigrated to the UK from Hong Kong in November 2022 through the BNO Visa scheme. As I understand, I am now considered a UK tax resident. My only sources of income are: 1) A pension from the Hong Kong government that has already been taxed in Hong Kong. 2) Interest, dividends, and capital gains from savings and investments. This income is below the UK's tax-free Personal Allowance threshold of £12,570. Given my circumstances, do I need to complete a self-assessment tax return in the UK? Thank you.
