My husband and I own our home. Last year I purchased an additional property, a flat for our son. The flat cost £65,000 and I paid higher rate stamp duty on it. We are now selling our main home and buying a new one, and I have been told we have to pay higher rate stamp duty on this. Is this correct, if so could we gift the flat to your son?
