  • Married couple in separate houses

20 years ago my wife and I split up. We did not divorce or separate legally, just both bought our own smaller houses and lived separate lives. Fast forward, and we are thinking of combining our houses and buying one together. I have had two pieces of advice 1- When sold, one of the houses would be due CGT 2- This is not so as our separation was likely to be permanent. Does anyone have any idea whether or not we made a serious mistake 20 years ago Thanks
