  • PAYE issues discrepancy x2

Hi I’m looking for advise Issues: 1) I received a 1 month salary overpayment 2y ago and nearly paid it back to the employer. My employer said that when they invoiced me with the amount due back, they had to inform HMRC about the overpayment. They tell me they have done so months ago. However the income shown on my personal tax account app still shows the annual salary (including the overpayment). My issue is, as I need to process a tax return because of child benefit charge. Then this discrepancy is causing concern. Should I enter the real amount? Since I’ve nearly paid back that money? Or what’s on HMRC RECORDS on the app? 2) The following tax period I had another issue with a different employer. They provided me with a p60 which says I earned x amount for the tax year, I earn only PAYE. When I went to do the return for this tax period, I noted the annual salary recorded on HMRC APP from this employer was different (less amount!) to what is shown on my P60. I asked my employer and they told me that they failed to file my last salary in March approaching the end of the tax year. They now tell me they have informed HMRC, they gave me a if code confirming it’s done. However, 4 weeks after the app still showing less earnings than on P60. Again same issue, nee to file a tax return. Which salary should I use? What’s on my P60 or what HMRC shows on the app. I spoke to an accountant, who advised me they advise their clients to rely on what’s shown my personal tax account in the HMRC app, because it’s the most accurate.
