  • Query regarding donating items to charity I've been reimbursed for.

    Hi there. As part of my job, I sometimes have to carry out test purchases in supermarkets. I get reimbursed as part of my self-employed role for these purchases. I then donate the purchases to a local charity. How should I record this on my accounting tools? Is there a category I would need to complete about donating or can I complete it as an expense? Thank you :)
  • Sole Trader - query on 'working from home'

    Hi there - newbie here - really enjoying this forum, very useful,., thanks admins for looking after it :) Working from home query - I've just set out in the world of being a sole trader. I'd only be working here for a proportion of the working week - I've seen the article on hourly splits :) The utilities at our house are in the name of my partner (employed elsewhere). How do I navigate this when submitting a claim - I'd be using simplified method - I'm just checking what details may be asked for. Thanks in advance :)
  • Car Insurance - sole trader

    Hi there. AS a newbie to the world of being a sole trader, I'm finding this forum invaluable - thank you for looking after it :) Can I check my understanding please - I'll be using my vehicle for business use so I'm in the process of changing my car insurance policy to reflect. I'm using the 'Simplified Expenses' method and recording my mileage as such. Just to confirm - I don't record the extra expense it's cost me to change my car insurance anywhere as the flat payment in 'Simplified Expenses; includes for mileage, vehicle tax and insurance? Thanks in advance - 'there's no such thing as a silly question', right? :)
