Hi I own a property for past 7 years which I have lived in the entire time with my partner (not legally married and she is not on the deed/mortgage). The property was purchased at 270K, now estimated value 350K. There is a 180K mortgage left on the property. We are planning to remortgage as a buy to let adding my partner as well. Will I benefit from Private residence relief in this scenario or be liable for CGT if she is added to deed/BTL mortgage? Thanks

Hi,

As it has been your own house and you have lived in it for the whole period of ownership, then no CGT is due at the time of remortgage. That may change if, or when you sell. The same will apply to your partner.

Thank you.
