Hi My family will lend me money to pay off my mortgage (they are in Spain). The idea is that I will open a Spanish bank account, they will transfer the money there and then I will transfer it to my UK account to pay the mortgage lender. Is there any tax implication in than process? Manyt thanks

Hi ClaraBT,

There is no tax due for income tax purposes on the transfer or gift of this money unless it generates interest in a bank account.
The interest would then be subject to tax.

Thank you.
