My income is currently under £50,000 so I don’t have to pay the higher income child benefit charge. I have just sold some shares from a SAYE scheme which I will have to pay capital gains tax on. Is the gain that I have made classed as income, taking me over the £50,000 threshold and so I will also have to pay the higher income child benefit charge as well as capital gains tax?
