Hello How does the tax treaty treat the disposal of a property in the US for a U.K. resident? How would this change if the tax residence was US and the property was a primary residence? Does the 5 year rule still apply?

Hi,
If a property is your main residence then no CGT will be due.
If not your main residence then any increase in value will be subjet to tax - Capital Gains Tax: what you pay it on, rates and allowances
Thank you.
