I own a property outright and my partner intends to live there in the foreseeable future. At the moment only my name is on the title deeds. My partner would like to buy a part share in the property once this happens and also have her name added to the deeds. This would be done via solicitors. What I would like to know is if by selling a part share in the property in these circumstances would make me liable for tax on the selling price and would it make any difference if we were subsequently married?

Would HMRC like to comment on this query?

Hi,

If you are living in the property as your main resdience then no captial gains will be due whether you are married or not.

Thank you.
