Hi there. I'm planning to move to Isle of man in 2024. So next year I will buy quite huge amounts of shares, some companies will be based in the UK and I want to relocate to Isle of man indefinitely. My question is how long I will have to be resident in the isle of man to stop paying CGT tax in the UK?? I've seen so many forums and opinions I'm totally lost. Regards

Hi

Article 13(2) of the UK/ IOM tax treaty (2018 Isle of Man-UK Double Taxation Agreement – in force)
advises that gains from the disposal of shares in the UK, may be taxed in the UK.
The number of years that you are not UK resident, does not change this rule in any way.

Thank you
